Fluorescent Sterile
Integrity Detector

Genome and Agricultural Biotechnology LLC is seeking an expression of interest in the development and commercialization of an innovative, simple and low cost technology for the detection of breaches in sterile packaging of medical instruments.

GAAB has developed a prototype and submitted the Patent Application (# 62/321,833). This new technology (product) includes the coating of minimal packaging with an inexpensive fluorescent material, making small, even microscopic breaks and tears quickly visible the human eye via UV light.

SOLVING A HEALTH CARE PROBLEM

Ensuring that medical instruments are not contaminated is critical to health care systems and providers, directly reducing risks of infection and a range of complications which affect community health. The primary end user of this new technology are healthcare professionals, as well as the increasing number of informal healthcare providers, e.g., home based caregivers and their patients.

We believe the target buyer for this new technology will be:

1. Companies that produce the material for the packaging, pouches, envelopes, including specialized papers, plastics, coatings, etc.

2. Companies that produce the actual packaging, pouches, envelopes, etc.

3. Companies that assemble all the components, e.g., as a value added service

This new technology (product) provides unique value to producers of sterile instrument packaging through the use of low cost materials and minimal change to the current production process. It further provides unique value to end users by using known safe material, and a quick and easy detection workflow or process that advances the current state.

UNIQUE VALUE IN A GROWING MARKET

The demand for this product is driven by systems, institutions and individuals that provide healthcare services, including hospitals, medical-surgical clinics and offices, rehabilitation, short and long term care facilities, emergency responders, formal and informal healthcare providers, and others.

With a rapidly aging population in the US, Canada and other Western countries, the industries that require and benefit from this new technology, are significant.
